How do I rank higher in Google

Ranking higher in Google
How do I rank Higher in Google?
“How do I rank higher in Google“. This is a question that I get asked all of the time. I will do my best to shed some serious light on the “higher ranking in Google” question as best that I can.
Everyday there are there are somehwere in the neighborhood of 150 million searches for information and products on the internet. That means that in a month there are nearly 4.5 BILLION searches. Getting your website or webpage to rank higher in these listings on Google, Yahoo, Bing and the other engines as well, takes some skill and a little determination. there is no sure fire method or silver bullet to do just that. However, there are surefire methods to raise your position to the forefront and possibly to the top positions based on your industry.
What is ranking on a search engine?
Page or website ranking on a search engine is best explained in this way. The search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing are in essence very large lists. Think of them as an index of terms, websites and website pages. Websites and the web pages first get associated with key terms. The terms or keywords are then typed in by everyone on the search engine pages like Google.com or Yahoo.com. At that very moment Google or yahoo or whichever, give their list of choices to the searcher, lists the results in SERP’s. The list may have 100 thousand choices or it may have 100 million. Either way, that list is given in a certain prioritized manner. YOU CANNOT BUY YOUR WAY INTO THIS LIST. YOU CANNOT BUY YOUR WAY TO THE TOP OF THIS LIST. YOU CAN HOWEVER, MOVE UP THIS LIST.
The method of moving your site up this list is called search engine optimization. Search engine optimization or SEO as it is called, is a way of optimizing your website and its pages so that the search engines give maximum credibility and visibility in their SERP’s. So with that said let’s give an example.
Let’s say that you have a website in the healthcare industry. You have made a website and went to google to find your site. You are so excited. You have waited for this moment. You type in Healthcare. You go through page after page on Google and see 100,000 other healthcare professionals and healthcare providers but not yourself. At this point you shake it off and decide to take a new approach. You type in “Healthcare in Dallas” this time you see all of your competition and a bunch of other sites that have nothing to do with healthcare AND you still do not see your healthcare professional website. At this point you are flat out frustrated. Why are all of these other businesses and websites showing up and you are nowhere to be found. It doesn’t seem fair, or does it?
The reason they are showing up in the rankings and you are not is this. Whether they intended it or not their site has been somehow “optimized” for those keywords in that list of results. Remember, you can not buy a placement in these lists. The way that they moved up in the lists is really simple. They used search engine optimization to move up the ranks in Google or whatever search engine it happened to be.
SEO isn’t associtaed with the search engines in a business sense. Search engine optimization is really more of a way of doing business. It is a method of web design and web marketing that enhances the “natural” visibility and the “natural” ranking that you recieve in a search engine.
•Major “Search Engines” and their market share
■Google 71.01% (over 110 Million searches a day)
■Yahoo 18.26%
■Bing 5.32%
■Ask 3.45%
