Digital printing requires little to no setup time and physical changes to the machinery. This allows shorter runs a greater flexibility in upfreont cost effectiveness.

If you have a short run product like business cards or brochures or color copies, then digital presses are the way to go for these products.

The way this is achieved however, requires a greater upfront time and cost. Whether you print one or 10,000 some form of plate needs to be made for the press that is unique to each printing job. This "plate" setup can take hours and hundreds of dollars to make and set in place.

If you are running 1,000's or 10's of 1,000's of prints this initial cost and time will defeinitely be "offset" by the large quantities and you will save money in the long run. Offset presses have the ability to save you money but only on very large quantities.
